I patronized Dr. Bergien four years ago for a deep.., 09-28-2008 10:49AM

I patronized Dr. Bergien four years ago for a deep (scalar) cleaning. Going in, I was told that the cost would be $90-149 per quadrant... My mistake was that I did not pin him down on that early, because I was charged the highest price. It struck me as a scam then, to tease me with a possibly lower price, but then charge the highest, so I asked why it cost the maximum for me, especially since I had several teeth removed for orthodontics and therefore required less effort for the cleaning, but all I got was a lot of hooey about the hard water they had to use... But more than that was that I watched Dr. B strolling in across the parking lot ten minutes after my appointment started, as though his time was more important than mine. Meanwhile I could hear a woman in an adjoining room crying so hysterically that I did not get the full complement of dental assistants I required, while they at length attended to her instead. At last, while attending to me at last, Dr. B. regaled me with his terrible predicament, which was to say-- in so many words-- that since some of his dental school classmates had gone on to venues where they were making a lot of money, that he felt entitled to ask for as much as he could get. I should have been smart enough to excuse myself before I even got that far. I really felt taken advantage of by Dr. Bergien.
